The Velocity Program I'd Give Every 8-Year-Old Pitcher

Description

Should an 8-year-old be in a velocity program?

My answer might surprise you.

As someone who created one of the first velocity programs in baseball, I've spent more than two decades studying what actually makes pitchers throw harder, stay healthier, and have longer careers.

If I had an 8-year-old pitcher today, I wouldn't put him in a traditional velocity program.

I'd do something much more important.

In this episode, I explain how the velocity world changed, why we've started modeling the wrong pitchers, why so many coaches are teaching mechanical flaws as if they're fundamentals, and what I would teach every young pitcher instead.

The goal isn't simply to throw harder at 10 years old.

The goal is to build the foundation that allows a pitcher to throw harder, stay healthier, and continue improving for the next 15 years.
